"The 2025 Silk Road Week" Kicks Off in Hangzhou — World Cultural Association Highly Praises China's Efforts in Protecting and Inheriting Silk Culture

On July 11, 2025, the "2025 Silk Road Week," co-hosted by China's National Cultural Heritage Administration and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, grandly opened at the China National Silk Museum.

Luc Roche, President of the Association Nationale Cultures du Monde; Cécile AUSANNEAU, the Association's Representative to UNESCO; and Zhao Yachao(赵亚超), its China Representative, were invited to attend the opening ceremony and participate in a series of events.

At the opening ceremony, Luc Roche, President of the Association Nationale Cultures du Monde, delivered a speech in which he fully acknowledged China's outstanding contributions to the protection of silk culture and Silk Road heritage. He particularly emphasized the significance of China's sericulture and silk craftsmanship being inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

In his address, President Luc Roche noted that the China National Silk Museum has set an exemplary model for global cultural heritage preservation by promoting international collaboration in silk culture and revitalizing traditional intangible heritage crafts. He highlighted the museum's initiatives such as the "Silk Road International Exhibition Hall" and "Mulberry China: Exhibition and Performance of Sericulture and Silk Craftsmanship Intangible Cultural Heritage", which have significantly enhanced cross-border cultural exchange and dialogue on silk traditions.

President Luc Roche stated that   the Association Nationale Cultures du Monde has maintained close long-term cooperation with China, with both sides jointly committed to promoting mutual learning among civilizations. Notably, the annual "China-France-Gannat International Arts Festival" held in Taiyuan, Shanxi has become a vital platform, showcasing global performing arts and intangible cultural heritage while further advancing cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.
